Summer of weddings - 2008

Greg and I headed to Longmont, Colorado for his best friend's wedding June 16th. While we were there we stayed with his sister and family and I got to meet Greg's grandparents for the first time.Wedding of David and Andrea Hutchings

At the end of June we flew to Missouri to be in the wedding of one of my bridesmaids,
Sarah Morgan.

Wedding of Brian & Sarah Cicutti...We love weddings!

Sarah and Brian actually got married at the same location, Lone Summit Ranch, where Greg and I got married one year ago. Fun memories!

After the wedding we spent some time with my family.
Greg made his famous yummy pancakes...with help from Cooper!

Nothing like a family fight...especially when pillows are involved!
(Greg soooo lost!)

We all went to Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO for a day of family fun!
We even saw "Noah" at the new Sight & Sound theater in Branson...WOW!

Oh, and a few more wedding to go...

1st Year Anniversary - May 18, 2008

We are going to try a tradition that my mom and dad do almost every year for their anniversary...put the wedding gown back on a take a picture. It will be fun to look back and see us at different stages of our lives on our anniversaries.

We LOVE being married...can you tell?

For our anniversary weekend we were able to get away for a couple days to visit Colonial Williamsburg which is about 2 hours from us. A friend graciously let us use his Time Share there so we could have free housing. What a blessing!

Dining at a Colonial Tavern.

We went to a fabulous concert of Colonial instruments, some with modern twists. This is the world's only glass violin and had a unique sound.

In trouble...again!

A lady from my work gave us a gift to dine at a lovely restaurant called "The Williamsburg Inn" for our anniversary. What a lovely evening!

JAM stands for Junior High Adventure in Ministry which is held at Philadelphia Biblical Institute in PA. The students are taught how to share the Good News of Jesus through the colored beads on a bracelet and then they are paired with a child from inner city Philadelphia for a day. We play all kinds of games with them and then sit down one on one and talk with the kids. There were about 500-600 students and kids that participated in this event.

My buddy for the day in the craft room.

Our students with their buddies.

It was a fun ongoing game we played with our youth group. If someone says your name and you look at them while they have their "mask" on, you have to lie down on the ground. It's quite funny!

Enough said!

Greg's 24th Birthday was Saturday...can you tell?!

Greg's 24 Birthday - May 10, 2008

I threw Greg a surprise birthday party at the Avery's house. Everyone came in wearing goofy hats that I had put outside the front door.

I baked my first cherry pie with a criss-cross top. (It's Greg's favorite kind of pie.)

Don't look!

Party time!

Apple Blossom Festival - May 3, 2008

The Apple Blossom Festival is the biggest "thing" that hits Winchester, Virginia every May for a week. You either stay in town and embrace it for all of it's glory...or you leave for vacation for the weekend. Notice the color theme: pink and green. Everyone wears every combination of pink and green while they go from parades to picnics, music concerts, the circus, carnivals, fireworks display, etc. You name it, it's here for Apple Blossom."Bloomin' Mile" kids race

Our several pink and green combinations!
Look! More pink and green!

I even found a good looking old man at the parade!

Picnic with the Avery's
Watching one of two 3 hour parades. This was the Firemans' Parade with a Princess atop every firetruck.
Greg found an amazing treat...but we couldn't fathom spending $3 for a twinkie fried or not.

This year's Apple Bloosom Queen, Jaqui Rice, Jerry Rice's daughter.

Overall, it was a fun weekend of festivities with friends.

Youth Musical - April 27, 2008

Greg and I helped with our church's Spring youth musical. It was a modern retelling of the Prodigal Son story called "Nowhere to Run" set in the 80's with flashbacks to the 50's. Greg was a grandpa in the 80's scenes and I directed some of the 50's scenes. We had a great time working with these students.

Greg played a grandpa character and did a great job.

Progressive Fast Food Dinner

Creative evening of fun on a newlywed budget.
Greg and I had a fabulous evening of "Fine Fast Food Dining" with our friends Drew & Danielle Hamer, another newlywed couple.

Here's the collection of coupons we had to weed through to create the evening's menu.

We cut our Big Mac in 4 pieces and each savored the "mini burger." The guys we so sad they only got a bite of the Big Mac. Us ladies were thankful that's all we had to eat. :)

We were so excited to find out that it was "spirit night" at Chic-Fil-A which means you can spin the wheel for 50 cents and win free chicken sandwhiches, fries, drinks and ice cream...which we did.
